Gelato World Tour: "Pistachio" Wins

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The world final of the Gelato World Tour took place in Rimini. The competition is organised by Carpigiani Gelato University and Sigep – Italian Exhibition Group, and the jury that determined the winner consisted of 47 members, including chefs, journalists, gelato experts, and some world champion gelatieri, including Giancarlo Timballo and Sergio Dondoli. Many illustrious names were gathered to declare the winning gelato, capable of tantalising the taste buds of the jury. Let’s see who took the podium.  

Winner of the Gelato World Tour

The Gelato World Tour was won by Alessandro Crispini from the Crispini gelateria in Spoleto, based in Perugia. And who could be surprised that one of the most important cities in the confectionery industry won the award? However, it was not a chocolate gelato that won, but a pistachio flavour aptly named "Pistachio". To create this delicacy, Alessandro Crispini used three types of pistachios, sourced from Bronte, Raffadali, and the Valley of the Platani in Agrigento. The choice of products to sweeten the gelato was also not left to chance, as the pistachios, after being roasted for 24 hours, were then blanched with sugar and Madagascar vanilla beans.

Second and Third Place

In second place on the Gelato World Tour podium, we find a gelato with a very particular name: it is called "Tribute to the Serenissima". This was prepared by Guido and Luca De Rocco from the Eiscafé De Rocco gelateria in Schwabach, located in Germany. The "Tribute to the Serenissima" is a sorbet made from strawberry grapes and caramelised nuts. The third place goes to a Colombian gelateria. This flavour is called “Amor-Acuyà” and was created by Daniela Lince Ledesma from Medellín. This gelato featured passion fruit, with sweet and sour notes. Additionally, it included cream and 65% Colombian chocolate.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
