A Taxi for Gambia

On 21st February, we launched a social initiative aimed at raising €600 to send to a Gambian (Buya N.) so he could purchase a car to use as a taxi and ensure sufficient income to support his family.

We raised €600, of which €100 came from free donations and €500 was set aside from 1% of the sales revenue from the site.

On the blog www.fysis.it, there is a story by Aldo Bongiovanni, the owner of tibiona.it, explaining the reason for this fundraising and some curiosities about Gambia, based on 5 days of his stay in the area.

With this post, we want to thank all the customers who contributed to the initiative, share the success of the fundraising, and provide all the documentation that supports the sending of the money and the purchase of the car (a Ford Mondeo).

The purchased car is second-hand, but Buya is very happy because it perfectly serves the purpose of a taxi by Gambian standards.
